Hello Broadway Theatre Company is still accepting students for featured dancers and the ensemble for Disney's Beauty and the Beast JR.
Performance Dates: July 20-21st at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre
Any student ages 5-19 interested will be cast. Although auditions have been held and the primary roles have been cast, we're still accepting students for featured dancers and the ensemble thru Monday, June 4th.
Please click on the JOIN THE CAST button. You'll be prompted to enter your information and will be contacted about joining the production. Call 847-287-8180 or send an email to email@example.com if you have any questions.
We will have a read-thru on Monday 5/14 from 5:30-7:30pm followed by a parent meeting until 8pm. The remainder of the rehearsals will be held Monday thru Thursdays from 9am-12 noon starting on Monday, June 4th thru Thursday, July 12. (No rehearsal on Wednesday, July 4th).
Tech week will begin on Friday, July 13 and may run thru the weekend and into the next week. Tech rehearsals are mandatory with very few exceptions. Since tech rehearsals are so important to insure the cast is prepared for performance weekend, we will determine days and times for those rehearsals around everyone's conflicts when possible.
Please fill out the conflict calendar and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or text a photo to 847-287-8180. Please be as specific as possible when listing the times of conflicts Mondays thru Thursdays and during tech so I can do my best to find times to meet when the majority of students can attend. We will also be scheduling charity performances at local nursing and convalescent homes during tech week which will also be scheduled around the cast's availability. Any conflicts listed on the conflict calendar will be excused until tech week. Absences are permitted - it's summer, go have some fun! Nearly everyone will be missing at least a week so don't let that discourage you from joining.
All students in the production are welcome to attend all rehearsals Mondays-Thursdays from 9-noon, but it won't be required for the full cast to attend all rehearsals for the entire duration. A scene and character-specific rehearsal plan will be created after casting, based around availability when possible, so that students will have the option of sleeping in or leaving early on certain days, especially during June when the focus will be on introducing vocals, choreography, character and blocking to individuals and ensemble groups. But if you are counting on rehearsals for morning childcare thru the summer or students want to attend all rehearsals, they'll be able to come and review songs, dances or even work on the production (sets, props, costumes, etc.).
Tuition for students cast in the production will be $295 with a costume fee of $35-50 based on role(s).
Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
With many fun supporting roles allowing students to play objects inside the castle, this "tale as old as time" is filled with spectacular featured and ensemble opportunities.
Music by Alan Menken
Lyrics by Tim Rice & Howard Ashman
Book by Linda Woolverton
